私たちが生まれ育った国、日本の歴史を纏った着物。古くから継がれてきた職人たちの技が織りなした帯をモロッコのマラケシュに運び、その土地の伝統的な履物バブーシュに仕立てました。

流れるように渡った裏側の糸を一枚一枚丁寧に切り取って芯を貼り、手渡される手仕事のバトン。異国の文化が混ざり合い、暮らしに寄り添うアートピースとして再び息を吹き返します。

どこか浮世絵や山水図を思わせる、静けさの中に息づく暮らしの気配。伝統的な日本の山あいの宿場町の風景を織りで描いた一足。旅人がふと立ち寄る茶屋のぬくもりのように、時を越えて続く日常のやさしさを。

The history of Japan, the country where we were born and raised, is woven into the fabric of kimono.

We took obi — traditional sashes woven by skilled artisans and passed down through generations — to Marrakech, Morocco, where they were transformed into babouche, the traditional footwear of the region.

The threads that flow across to the reverse side are carefully trimmed, one by one, and reinforced with a backing — a baton of craftsmanship passed from one pair of hands to another. Blending foreign cultures, the piece is reborn as an art object that can exist gently in our everyday lives.

Evoking the quiet presence of life found in ukiyo-e or traditional landscape paintings, this pair is adorned with scenes of a mountain village, nestled deep in the Japanese countryside.  They bear the enduring warmth of everyday moments, akin to the gentle warmth of a teahouse where travelers stop to rest.
